The House Freedom Caucus--the truth (vanity)
self | 3/27/2017 | self

Posted on 03/27/2017 11:21:34 AM PDT by Basket_of_Deplorables

I am sick of the lies repeated about the House Freedom Caucus. The HFC are the good guys, and the closest we have in the House to Tea Party. They fly below the radar because they are universally hated by the swamp and GOPe leadership, so as to dodge the publically threatened (by GOPe leadership) retaliation. They don't rush to the microphones, but in fact keep their membership list secret. They don't rally around anything unless 80% of their members support it, then hang together. They are NOT anti Trump, and anyone who says that is lying to you. Ask them for proof--there is none. Same with "bought by the Kochs"--first when did the Koch brothers become bad? That's what moveon.org says. Second, where is the proof the HFC guys are bought? There is none. They are true patriots, and this bs sounds an awful lot like "The Russians! The Russians!!" Did they vote for Ryan? Sure. So did everyone else, and Trump publicly threw his weight behind him just prior to the vote. The time wasn't right. They sure got rid of Boehner, though.

So to enlighten Freepers, I've posted some facts below:

I am sick of the lies repeated about the House Freedom Caucus. The HFC are the good guys.

1. They drove the effort to get rid of Boehner (here):

"One of their members, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), launched an effort to unseat Boehner that ultimately led to a surprise resignation announcement last month. And the HFC's threat to withhold votes from Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the frontrunner to replace Boehner, contributed to McCarthy's decision to drop out of the race this week."

2. They then invited Boehner's replacement to join them! (here):

3.a,b,c,d etc: More from the first article (October 2015):

” The Freedom Caucus has set its agenda one issue at a time. It takes support from 80 percent of the membership for the caucus to take an official position. Here's a partial list of positions the group has taken:

• In April, the Freedom Caucus endorsed blocking a DC law to prohibit employers from discriminating against employees based on their use of contraception and abortion services.

• In May, the group called for the abolition of the Export-Import Bank, which provides credit for overseas customers of American companies. The HFC regard the group as a form of corporate welfare.

• In July, the group endorsed legislation to prohibit the federal government from punishing churches or charities based on their opposition to same-sex marriage.

• In September, the caucus called to delay a vote on Barack Obama's Iran deal until the president released the text of a "secret side deal" Iran made with the International Atomic Energy Agency (as Vox's Max Fisher put it "it is not a 'side deal,' nor is its existence secret").

• In September, the group called for defunding Planned Parenthood."

4. They tried to move to impeach Koskinen but were blocked by the rest of the GOP and dems (here):

5. They released a list of regulations to remove during Trump's 100 first days (and were pressured to drop some, of course, by the GOPe leaders): (here)

6. They have a twitter site--read their tweets (here):

7. Here is their (purposely bland) wiki: (here):

In my opinion, the Freepers running around with their hair on fire screaming "Kochs! Kochs!" or "Never Trumpers!" have some other agenda. Frankly I question their motives. Read the links, do you own research, form your own opinion, post facts if you want to this thread. But the bs that they are the bad guys or anti-Trumpers or in the pocket of anyone is absolutely false.

My own congress critter, Ron Desantis, is a founding member. I have had discussions with him about many things. He's great. Do a web search on him--he's friken awesome.

Anyone on this site trashing them, please feel free to direct them to this vanity. And feel free to add your own knowledge about these great patriots.

Thanks.

The problem with the Freedom Caucus is that they are not very nationalistic which is contrary to Trump’s strong suit. If being conservative means ditching nationalism then I am not a very good conservative.

Yes, on the surface of these tweets, it appears the President has also blamed Heritage Foundation for the defeat. Do you believe that’s his meaning?

Dave Brat (a Freedom Caucus member) posted on his Facebook page that if Congress brought back the 2015 Bill to repeal bill, it would FAIL because many in the GOP only say they wanted to repeal Obamacare when in fact they do not!

IMHO: Let's contact the leadership, beginning with Paul Ryan and demand they merely revote on the 2015 Repeal Bill already passed and see what happens.

The House Freedom Caucus in action.
Nothing new.

Imagine then a fleet or a ship in which there is a captain who is taller and stronger than any of the crew, but he is a little deaf and has a similar infirmity in sight, and his knowledge of navigation is not much better. The sailors are quarreling with one another about the steering––every one is of the opinion that he has a right to steer, though he has never learned the art of navigation and cannot tell who taught him or when he learned, and will further assert that it cannot be taught, and they are ready to cut in pieces any one who says the contrary. They throng about the captain, begging and praying him to commit the helm to them; and if at any time they do not prevail, but others are preferred to them, they kill the others or throw them overboard, and having first chained up the noble captain’s senses with drink or some narcotic drug, they mutiny and take possession of the ship and make free with the stores; thus, eating and drinking, they proceed on their voyage in such a manner as might be expected of them....

Ship of fools is an allegory, originating from Book VI of Plato’s Republic, about a ship with a dysfunctional crew:

If this were all true, they should be behind Trump 100% and been deeply involved in the dismantling and replacement of Obamacare.

Repeal and replace does not mean repeal then replace. We know what happens if we do that.

Now Trump is going to try and make up the difference with the Democrats in the House and leave the GOP Senate all hung up by Schumer.

Why not just pass a replacement that effectively kills Obamacare?

For too many people, "victory" > principle.

To the point they will back an extremely unpopular bill, that further entrenches socialism throughout the US, and is the polar opposite of what we were promised during their campaigns.

"Repeal and replace does not mean repeal then replace. We know what happens if we do that."

Should we really expect a replace then repeal to ever happen? I don't think anyone would because it seems in this case that to replace first really means to add and amend. When exactly does the behemoth legislation ever get replaced if it is just growing in size and complexity?

The HFC are the good guys, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I support the House Freedom Caucus. They just saved America from a horribly draconian Health Care Law.

The Freedom Caucus represents The People. Everyone else seems to have gone clear Washington Swamp Keepers. It didn’t take Trump long to join the Swamp Crowd instead of draining it.

The HOuse Freedom Caucus health care suggestions would have passed, but it was a People’s bill, therefore Ryan and Trump dismissed their input. There just wasn’t enough money for Big Pharm and Big Insurance in what the House Freedom Caucus suggested.

The House Freedom Caucus was not allowing the lobbyists to F**k with Peoples health. Trump and Ryan did. America duly noted it. The clock is ticking to November of 2018.

No. Couldn’t be the good guys. They number about 30 conservatives among 535 elected members in the legislature, countless liberal or RINO lobbyists, a progressive administrative state, and a federal judiciary stacked with Obama hacks. These 30 are the deplorables.

No, these 30 or so conservatives have all the power these days in DC. Their own party runs primary opponents against them, pays for ads with GOP billionaire funds, and remove them from committee assignments when they don’t toe leaderships demands.

No, most people had no idea who they were before last week but now we know. The HFC is what’s wrong with our government.

If they leave Obamacare on the books and just modify it (that’s what the AHCA was), then it can simply be put back in place by the next simple dem majority. It needs to come off the books.

RE:”Yes, on the surface of these tweets, it appears the President has also blamed Heritage Foundation for the defeat. Do you believe that’s his meaning?”

Last week there was a post here where Trump warned them he would come after them if they voted against this bill, and predictably many comments posted “Fake News!” or ‘He was joking”

This tweet is harder to deny the meaning.

Trump is not used to opposition.
“You're fired!”

It also contradicts the convenient theme :"Trump blames it on Ryan"

Because the HFC and conservative in general DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE Obamacare. Not with Hillarycare, or Romneycar, or with Ryancare or with Trumpcare or with any other type of “government care”.

REPEAL, period, full stop
